Happy 31 days of Halloween!
This year, we’re celebrating with a different movie pick each day that made me audibly gasp, “WHAT THE FUCK?!“
“Something went wrong in the lab today. Very wrong.” On the 10th day of Halloween, our WTF movie moment is from Cronenberg’s 1986 The Fly because it’s all the WTF anyone would ever need. Like ever. My sister won’t even rewatch this one with me for our podcast. Once was enough for her.
A brilliant scientist has an oops while performing his genius new teleportation experiment. Jeff Goldblum’s wicked transformation into the Brundlefly is the stuff of nightmares. Like seriously messed up. From peeling off fingernails, ears falling off, skin rotting, vomiting…Seth Brundle brings on the terror in all the glorious grotesque ways imaginable.
You need to watch The Fly today if you haven’t already. Or watch it again if it’s been awhile. Okay. That’s it, I can’t say anymore. I just can’t. This movie is all the WTFs that ever existed in the existence of ever. What’s your favorite WTF part? I’m going to have to choose Seth vomiting his gross fluids onto Stathis (John Getz), dissolving his hand and foot. Yuck!
