GenreBlast Film Festival has announced its lineup for the TENTH year of its international independent genre film festival. Festivities will take place at the Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester, VA, from September 3 through September 6, 2026.
GenreBlast will be showcasing an eccentric array of cross-genre films, including 14 features and 75 short films from around the world. Of the fourteen features, there are two world premieres, one U.S. premiere, two East Coast premieres, six regional premieres, and three Virginia premieres.
Here are my four most anticipated feature films of GenreBlast Film Fest:
Hollow Lake
Directed by Troy Escamilla
Hollow Lake follows newlyweds Max and Baker as they embark on a relaxing getaway at their lake house. Things go awry when one of the newlyweds uses this time to pressure the other to heat up their relationship. They could have never imagined what it would take to survive this weekend in this queer slasher.
Demonetize
Directed by Alexander Boyd Watson
Out-of-work television ghost hunters discover that the key to getting their jobs back – and proving ghosts are real – is by working with the last group of people anyone would expect: social media stars. The film stars the legendary Doug Jones (Pan’s Labyrinth, Crimson Peak, Hocus Pocus).
Debone
Directed by Lee Dae-han
In this Korean crime thriller, Gyutark is recently released from prison after having served a sentence for killing his abusive father to protect his mother. After collapsing and needing an expensive surgery, Gyutark realizes his skimpy wages are not enough, and desperate to save the only person who has ever loved him, he crosses into the criminal underworld.
Still Ohio
Directed by Kaylin Allshouse
Desperate to salvage her relationship, a college student embarks on a cross-country carpool only to find herself in a haunting time loop where each stop at a lonely Ohio gas station grows more terrifying than the last.
