Happy 31 days of Halloween!
This year, we’re celebrating with a different movie pick each day that made me audibly gasp, “WHAT THE FUCK?!“
Our seventh pick is Society because, well, duh. I watched this recently after my oldest daughter asked, “What’s that movie with the butt head?” As if the word “shunting” didn’t scare me enough, this movie just gets wilder, grosser, and orgy-er.
Society is directed by Brian Yuzna and written by Zeph E. Daniel and Rick Fry. This 1989 flick follows a young man named Bill (Billy Warlock) who feels like he doesn’t quite fit in with the rest of the family. With taglines like,
“If you don’t belong, they’ll eat you alive”
and
“You are what THEY eat,”
it’s not a big surprise where this movie is leading you, butt it’s still much more bizarre than you could ever imagine.
It’s surprising that when Bill suspects incest with his sister and parents, that’s not the worst that happens. “The Society” is throwing parties, and through that, we learn their dirty little secret; it’s shunting. While filming these scenes, Yuzna would put up a sign that read, “Abandon all hope ye who enter here.” It’s all too much, and everything is a big ol’ “WHAT THE FUCK” moment after another. Pick one, anything.
And despite the giant blobby mess of everyone melding together, the most unforgettable moment is this head in the ass. A whole ASS face coming out of an ass. WHAT THE FUCK?!
