Shudder Is Turning Up the Heat This June

Shudder’s June lineup has been released so I can start planning my birthday month watches already. The streamer is adding exciting new titles like Find Your Friends, The Voices of Our Mother, and The Ice Tower. However, as usual, it’s the old school bangers that have my attention. Both The Burning and Evil Dead II have big summer vibes and will have to be rewatched this Gemini season. Not to mention the streamer is still dropping a season of Tales from the Crypt every week until June 12. So, there is a ton to watch and adore while hiding from the heat this month. Which made it hard to narrow it down to five things I think we should all be excited about. I did it anyway though. You’re welcome and don’t mention it!

My Five Shudder Picks This June

30 Days of Night (2007)

A gang of ruthless vampires feed on an Alaskan town experiencing 30 days without sunlight. Shudder knows we need to open the libraries when school is out and is dropping a vampiric banger. This bloody and snow filled moment starring Josh Hartnett, Melissa George, and Danny Huston is still one of the best vampire movies to come out this millennium. I cannot wait to see it on Shudder again because I will absolutely be parked on the app when this drops on June 1st.

Fright Night (1985)

A teen begins to believe his neighbor is a vampire and enlists his girlfriend, best friend, and a local TV horror host to help him prove it. Fright Night is one of my favorite vampire movies and I have seen it countless times. If you think this is not my top priority this month then you must not know me. Chris Sarandon remains one of the hottest vampires in the canon and should be studied. I will not be the only person calling out sick when this lands on Shudder on June 1.

Raw

A young vegetarian girl in veterinarian school begins to crave human flesh. This chaotic cannibal moment is how many of us were introduced to Julia Ducournau and we are welcome. I highly recommend watching this on Shudder and then seeking out Titane to fully understand this filmmaker’s frequency. Come for the meaty feast and stay for the family secrets, betrayal, and tension. This movie is cinema and I hope it finds even more stans on this streamer when it hits the first day of the month.

Cannibal Mukbang

A man falls in love with a mysterious woman with an unusual appetite. Aimee Kuge really tapped into something with this film that resonates with so many people. This festival darling finding a home on Shudder is a huge win for indie films. When I interviewed Kuge on my podcast I discovered the film is even cooler than I realized after the initial watch. It’s a stylish little feast for the eyes and such a mood. I cannot wait to see this film find an even larger fanbase when it lands on June 15.

Forbidden Fruits

Three mall employees also happen to be a small coven looking for a fourth. They find that in a new hire who also stirs the pot and questions the bond that holds this sisterhood together. I signed up to see this because I love Victoria Pedretti and Alexandra Shipp. I was quickly introduced to the rest of the squad and had a wicked time giggling at these witchy shenanigans. Forbidden Fruits was one of my favorite films to come out of this year’s SXSW. So, I am very excited that it is finally arriving on Shudder on June 26th. I cannot wait to make this everyone’s problem!

It’s definitely going to be another Shudder Summer for this hot girl. Hopefully, you’ll find your bliss on this streamer too. Let us know what kind of stuff you end up watching this June. Who knows? Maybe it’ll end up getting added to the Horror Movie Blog must watch list too!
