We’re officially in the middle of the year! That’s so wild! What’s even wilder is how many horror titles have already been thrown at us. We’ve had some truly great, some very questionable, and a few meh entries in the genre this year. At Horror Movie Blog, we celebrate it all and are happy to see many new releases streaming for those who might have missed them in theaters. We decided to round up some of the 2024 films you can watch from your couch this weekend. Check out the list below, then let us know which titles you’re most excited to watch this week!
Abigail
Where You Can Watch: VOD
A group of criminals kidnap a kid and then find themselves trapped in a house with a monster. This movie was so fun, out of left field, and just a treat for horror fans. We’re huge fans of this 2024 title over here and think it’s just the kind of bloody fun we’ve come to expect from Radio Silence. We are also happy to be alive during the Melissa Barrera horror era.
Arcadian
Where You Can Watch: VOD
A man and his sons have learned to survive in a future where the planet is inhabited by ferocious creatures. Unfortunately, when one of the sons breaks curfew, they find themselves in a battle for survival. We loved the creature design and an excuse to see Nicolas Cage on the big screen. This movie also is another stop on Jaeden Martell’s quest to be one of the best young actors in the genre.
Bloodline Killer
Where You Can Watch: VOD
A woman tries to put her life back together after an obsessed cousin murders her family. Nothing is scarier than family, so we are leaning in. This movie slipped under our radar, and we are betting some of you also missed it.
Camp Pleasant Lake
Where You Can Watch: VOD
A couple opens a camp on haunted land and becomes involved in the 20-year-old-mystery of a missing girl and a brutal crime. Most importantly, Bonnie Aarons is in this cast, and we all love her. We are beyond happy to see her in a movie this calendar year. However, this 2024 title also has Jonathan Lipnicki for those who grew up watching him on our TVs.
Destroy All Neighbors
Where You Can Watch: AMC+ and Shudder
A rock musician accidentally kills the neighbor from hell, and then the real nightmare begins. Because Shudder constantly puts out new horror movies all year, this one might have gotten lost in your 2024 watches. However, that’s why Shudder Saturdays were invented.
The First Omen
Where You Can Watch: Hulu
A woman uncovers a terrifying conspiracy to bring about evil. This prequel to a beloved franchise has gained tons of fans since it premiered this year. So, it’s cool that it’s finally streaming so everyone else can see it. I can’t wait to hear where it lands on everyone’s list of recent nun-centered horror movies.
Humane
Where You Can Watch: VOD
Imagine a future where world leaders encourage families to take drastic measures to help control the Earth’s population. This Caitlin Cronenberg movie was one of the titles most of us were most curious about coming into 2024. I know how I feel about it, and I am looking forward to more people seeing it so I can compare notes.
Imaginary
Where You Can Watch: VOD
A woman moves her new family into her childhood home and soon discovers something sinister has been living in the house all along. We love seeing Black women lead mainstream horror titles, but this movie was…a motion picture. However, you can now watch it from home.
Immaculate
Where You Can Watch: VOD
A nun joins a remote convent in Italy and soon finds herself living a hellish nightmare. This was the first movie that made us wonder if the nuns would have fun in 2024. It was also the first one to let us know they would not.
Infested
Where You Can Watch: AMC+ and Shudder
Kaleb brings a venomous spider home and loses it, resulting in everyone in the apartment building fighting off deadly eight-legged predators. Check out Alma’s review. She’s braver than me and took this one for the team.
Killer Body Count
Where You Can Watch: Tubi
A teen is sent to a camp for young sex addicts but realizes someone at the camp is picking off campers one at a time. Did you want more time with director Danishka Esterhazy’s work after seeing The Banana Splits Movie and Slumber Party Massacre (2021)? Then check out this Tubi original tonight.
Lisa Frankenstein
Where You Can Watch: Peacock
A teen and a reanimated corpse find themselves on a murderous romantic journey to happiness. If you want more cutesy horror this 2024, check out Zelda Williams’ latest movie. It also stars Kathryn Newton, so you could have a chaotic double feature of her newest movies if you rent Abigail.
Monkey Man
Where You Can Watch: VOD (Hits Peacock on June 14th)
A man makes a meager living in an underground fight club where he takes beatings for quick cash. However, he’s also on a quest for revenge that will lead him directly to the most corrupt people in his city. This was our favorite movie at SXSW this year. If you’re going to pay $20 to watch a movie at home, make it Dev Patel’s badass feature directorial debut. You won’t regret it.
Night Swim
Where You Can Watch: Peacock
A baseball player and his family move into a new house and discover their pool has a deadly secret. If you waited to see this movie at home…you made the right call. I’m proud of you. Now watch it so you can finally wade into the discourse because we have questions, comments, and concerns.
Slay
Where You Can Watch: Tubi
Four drag queens fight vampires and a less-than-friendly audience in this horror comedy. There will never be enough drag queen horror movies for my liking, so I’m happy 2024 is letting us add another title to the list. I’m very excited to welcome Heidi N Closet, Crystal Methyd, Trinity The Tuck, and Cara Melle to the new class of scream queens.
Sting
Where You Can Watch: VOD
A kid finds a spider in her apartment building and keeps it in a jar. The spider rapidly grows and starts craving blood. Which becomes a problem when neighbors start disappearing. Check out our review by the talented Jazzmin Crawley.
These are only 16 of many horror titles that came out in 2024, which you can watch in your jammies right now! It’s wild to think how many more are out there. Let us know if you already watched the movies in this streaming guide. Also, let us know your favorite genre film of the year (so far) at @horrormovieblog
