Dalia De Leon’s 5 Most Anticipated Horror Movies of 2026

2026 is halfway done and we’ve already had some great horror films run through us and some major, disappointing and totally expected flops. Looking at you, Scary Movie! However, the rest of the year still holds promise. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting excited after making my list of what to watch. I was told to keep it short, though, since we all know us horror fans can get a little long winded once we get going. So here you go, my 5 most anticipated horror movies of 2026.

5. Evil Dead Burn

Release Date: July 10th, 2026

I wasn’t exactly wowed by Evil Dead Rise. However, each movie brings the hope of something great. Or perhaps it’s the nostalgia of something that was once unique and exciting, truly frightening. Either way, Evil Dead Burn is promising me a scare and I’ll be damned if I don’t give it a chance.

4. Colony

Release Date: August 28th

I am probably most excited to see this South Korean flick purely from its zombie-esque feel. It’s not simply a zombie(ish) led movie, though. It’s specifically a South Korean infected story that makes it that much more frightening. When you splice the two genres together, you get a work of art. If the trailer is any indication of the film, then we’re in for a good time.

3. Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma

Release Date: August 7th, 2026

What happens when you hire a new director to take on a slasher franchise? That’s the story that unfolds in the movie and has captured my interest with this trailer. It’s sexy, queer, and bloody in all the right ways. Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma stars Gillian Anderson and is written and directed by Jane Schoenbrun (I Saw the TV Glow).

2. Leviticus

Release Date: June 19th, 2026

Two teenage boys are being tormented in this Australian horror flick and I’m here for it. Each time I watch the trailer I fall more and more in love and I haven’t even seen it yet. It stars Joe Bird and Stacy Clausen and I believe every bit of their on camera chemistry and fear. I usually like to go into a movie knowing as little about it as possible and I’ve already broken my own rule. Thankfully, the trailer is just creepy and vague enough that my interest is piqued.

1. Victorian Psycho

Release Date: September 26th, 2026

I read the book. I don’t know if that will end up being a good thing or a bad thing. Having watched the trailer, though, I do know I will definitely be divorcing the book from the movie in order to give the movie a fair chance. Having said that, I’m still excited to watch Victorian Psycho because the story of a murdering governess is too good to pass up.

2026 is shaping up to be a banger of a year for horror. While we’re bound to have our misses, we can definitely get excited about what’s to come. You got your own list to share? Head over to Bluesky and let us know what’s making your must watch list for 2026.
