The 14th Winter Film Festival Has Unspeakable Horror Films

We prefer our horror on screen. That’s why we love film horror film festivals. We also know how hard it is to get movies produced for women and POC. Which is why we’re not mad that the Winter Film Festival is genre agnostic.

The 14th Annual Winter Film Festival runs February from 18-22. Screenings will take place in New York City REGAL Union Square. This year’s line up includes 103 films spanning all genres and topics which includes a few horror moments we would kill to see! The festival also boasts some educational workshops, filmmaker networking events, and obviously concludes with an awards ceremony.

According to the Winter Film Festival press release:

“Winter Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing the amazing diversity of voices in indie film and our 2026 lineup is half made by women and half by people of color. Filmmakers come from 27 countries and 25% of our films were made in the New York City area.”

We’re rooting for everybody, but specifically here for the horror of it all. Which is why we’re geeked about the night celebrating our favorite genre night. For the 2026 program, Winter Film Festival has partnered with FearsMagazine to screen 19 terrifying horror films from 7 countries. The films explore grief, power, technology, desire, and revenge. The fest also promises these unsettling gems will “confront our anxieties while pushing boundaries”.  We’re already sold but you can visit the Film Guide for details about the titles you can expect to see!
