31 days of halloween

Day 11 of our 31 Days of Halloween WTF movie moments (say that ten times fast!) belongs to Drew Barrymore’s gory death in the opening scene of Scream (1996). We may have become desensitized to this 26-year-old death scene that spawned four more films. Maybe. And there’s another on the way! I promise you, though, very few films have a more iconic opening sequence.

“Something went wrong in the lab today. Very wrong.” On the 10th day of Halloween, our WTF movie moment is from Cronenberg’s 1986 The Fly because it’s all the WTF anyone would ever need. Like ever. My sister won’t even rewatch this one with me for our podcast. Once was enough for her.

On this day, the 9th day of Halloween, we’ve chosen It Follows as our WTF movie moments flick. The whole premise comes from an idea derived from the mind of Mitchell after being plagued by a recurring dream. In the dream, he was stalked by an unknown predator who continually walked slowly toward him.

It’s the weekend and the 8th day of our Halloween WTF movie picks. I’m keeping up the trend of fun and silly with 2010’s Piranha 3D. This movie is ape-shit bananas. Do you really need to know the plot of a film when its entire existence is to be watched purely for the nudity? It’s probably the boobiest movie I’ve ever seen.

Our seventh pick is Society because, well, duh. I watched this recently after my oldest daughter asked, “What’s that movie with the butt head?” As if the word “shunting” didn’t scare me enough, this movie just gets wilder, grosser, and orgy-er.

Thank you, Death Drop Gorgeous! I laughed and cheered and thought it was charming. I needed more stage performances, but I got all the kills I needed and more. Excuse me while I channel Tragedi (Complete Destruction) and try to spice up my regular, old, dull day.

Happy 31 days of Halloween!  This year, we’re celebrating with a different movie pick each day that made me audibly gasp, “WHAT THE FUCK?!“ On the 5th day of Halloween, we celebrate the rebirth of Frank in Hellraiser. Ben Keen led the special effects team and gave us this gloriously disgusting, oozing, dripping mess. Together

On this, the 4th day of Halloween, I’m dropping the claw down into my basket filled with WTF moments and…drumroll, please…Brain Damage! Call it a B film, call it an exploitation film; it’s definitely bizarre and, well, original.

🎵🎶 On the third day of Halloween, your neighbors gave to theeeeeeee, a severed head sprouting legs… what did I just see? 🎵🎶 “The Thing” is one of my all-time favorite films, and I had the pleasure of seeing it on the big screen this year for its 40th anniversary. It was a magical experience to see it in all of its glory.
