If you missed the news, BlerDCon is moving to March 7-9 this year! The annual summer con that has been creating a safe space for Blerds since 2017 is now a winter event. Not only does this move mean fans, cosplayers, and creators have less of a wait this year, but it also means they no longer have to fight the July sun while making new friends. What a time to be alive!
What Is BlerDCon?
“BlerDCon (Black Nerd Convention) is a convention that celebrates black nerd culture while being inclusive of all backgrounds. The convention features panels, celebrity guests, presentations, workshops, gaming tournaments, cosplay contests, music, and dance. BlerDCon is committed to highlighting and showcasing the rich diversity of the blerd community and other underrepresented communities in geekdom. The convention is held annually and takes place over a weekend at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, VA. Attendees can purchase badges online or on-site, and children aged 10 and under can attend for free with an adult guardian. We’ll Be There!
BlerDCon’s 2025 theme is “Thrilla” and plans to move horror to the front of the line. While the guest list has not been announced yet, genre fans are promised to see plenty of Black horror content creators, cosplayers, actors, authors, etc. in attendance this year. Many of our writers will be at the event with their horror podcasts. In attendance will be Kristie Felice of In Love With Horror, Jazzmin Crawley of Girl, That’s Scary, and Xero Gravity and Sharai Bohannon of Blerdy Massacre.
Many fans are also delighted that Thot Squad will be returning as a musical guest again this year. If you have attended BlerDCon these last few years, you know this is always one of the favorite musical guests in the building.
