On this, the 4th day of Halloween, I’m dropping the claw down into my basket filled with WTF moments and…drumroll, please…Brain Damage! Call it a B film, call it an exploitation film; it’s definitely bizarre and, well, original.

I love horror movies and I love hearing people speak in the language I grew up around. We didn’t have cable television, and often, the only way we caught new and popular movies was on the Spanish network that was on public television. We grew up in the days of very few free channel options and we had four whole choices. The films were often dubbed in Spanish or had Spanish subtitles and it was our norm. And we loved it.
Seriously, who doesn’t love free stuff? Tubi has so many free movies to stream and horror titles to choose from that I’m here to make it easier on you with this list. You might be tempted to jump into Shark Side of the Moon immediately, but resist the urge and check out some of these films that are leaving Tubi soon.

While we often sleep on Netflix’s Horror selections, they are sort of killing it when it comes to WOC-led horror. Some of these are underrated gems. Others are instant classics. I live to celebrate women in horror. So, of course, I am living my best life with this list where BIPOC women take the lead!
As a little girl with a box television that sat up against the wall in our tiny living room, we were entertained with free and public television. Sometimes it was a Spanish-dubbed American movie or an old black and white flick. While the former was hilarious, the latter fascinated me.
